Dorchester Town Council

Civil Wedding Ceremonies

Dorchester Municipal Buildings are Grade II Listed and are licensed for Civil Wedding Ceremonies.  We are currently the only venue in Dorchester's Town Centre and have the largest room licensed in Dorset, with full disabled access and catering facilities for up to 300 people. See Guidance Notes

You can hold just the Ceremony itself and it can take place in one of three rooms.  For the smaller ceremony, the historically decorated Council Chamber (holding up to 40/50 guests) features a fine display of Civic Insignia and wall plaques recording the Mayors of Dorchester and significant national and local events since 1793.  Larger ceremonies can take place in the Town Hall, which has a fine vaulted wooden ceiling and Oriel Window and is decorated with memorabilia from Dorchester's twin towns.   Both rooms are on the first floor, with some access for disabled people.  Our recently licensed third room is the Corn Exchange itself, situated on the ground floor, offering full disabled access and 300 guest capacity.

Corn Exchange & Town Hall Monday to Thursday - £130.00 plus VAT
Friday or Saturday - £180.00 plus VAT

Council Chamber Monday to Thursday - £110.00 plus VAT
Friday or Saturday - £160.00 plus VAT

Why not have the whole day under the one roof?  Whether you have a small gathering or large guest list there are several room combinations available for your reception, these include the Town Hall, Corn Exchange and Magistrates Room.  Outside catering is permitted with our large main kitchen available for hire, a well stocked bar and a duty Caretaker.  A good range of hotel and guest house accommodation is also available in Dorchester and the surrounding area.

Our prices are very competitive, a full day from 8am to 11pm (with additional hours available) would cost £327.00 plus Vat for the Corn Exchange, £135.00 plus Vat for the Town Hall and £102.00 plus Vat for the Magistrates Room.  Deposits may be taken.  For further information or an appointment to view the rooms, please do not hesitate to contact Julie Hollings on 01305 265840 or email at
